26 dead on WC roads this weekend

A transport official says among the highest fatalities is pedestrian deaths.

CAPE TOWN - At least 26 people have lost their lives on Western Cape roads this past weekend.

These deaths were recorded between Friday and Saturday.

The Department of Transport and Public Works' Byron la Hoe says among the highest fatalities is pedestrian deaths.

"The problem area is actually pedestrians; those who are walking over highways of the Cape Metropole areas. The N7 near Du Noon is a problem; we also have the N2 near Somerset West. Most of our road traffic fatalities are pedestrians, especially children."
