Defence minister's son stabbed to death
Police have confirmed Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula’s son has been stabbed to death.
JOHANNESBURG - The police have confirmed the son of Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula has been stabbed to death in Bezuidenhout Valley.
Police say Chumani Nqakula was stabbed in the upper body yesterday and died at the scene.
According to the defence ministry the 23-year-old was killed by someone he knew.
He is the son of Mapisa-Nqakula and former Cabinet Minister Charles Nqakula.
The South African National Defence Force says his mother was on a state visit to Bangkok when news of her son's killing came last night.
Police say a 24-year-old man has been arrested and will appear in court soon.
Police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini said, "A young man was stabbed in the upper body and died at the scene. A 24-year-old man has been arrested and at this stage we don't know what the motive for the crime was."
