10 arrested for allegedly torturing, beating a man to death

JOHANNESBURG - A North West farmer and his wife have been arrested for allegedly beating a man to death after they accused him of stealing a sheep.

Police say 45-year-old Moses Mosepele and two of his neighbours were looking for wood on a farm on Tuesday afternoon when the couple approached accusing them of stealing the sheep.

They then kidnapped the trio and allegedly poured boiling water over them, whipped them with a fan belt and locked them in a cold room.

Mosepele died while the other two men are now recovering hospital.

The police's Paul Ramaloko says officers were also allegedly involved in the assault.

"The farmer, the wife and eight other accomplices are now in police custody on charges of murder and attempted murder. They will appear in the Vryburg Magistrates Court on Friday."
