British authorities assisting families of drowned couple
National Sea Rescue Institute spokesperson Craig Lambinon says paramedics tried to resuscitate them.
CAPE TOWN - British authorities in South Africa are assisting the families of an English couple who drowned in Plettenberg Bay while on holiday.
The bodies of the 28-year-old man and 26-year-old woman were found washed up at Robberg Beach on Friday evening just a couple metres from each other.
They were declared dead on the scene.
National Sea Rescue Institute spokesperson Craig Lambinon says a docket has been launched but no foul play is suspected.
"They were both found on the beach by bystanders. It's suspected that they had gone for a swim shortly after arriving in Plettenberg Bay for a holiday. They're both British citizens."
