Child porn ring suspect back in court

CAPE TOWN - A Plettenberg Bay man with alleged links to an international child porn ring is back in court today.

The 37-year-old is one of several people arrested across the country on charges relating to the distribution of sexually explicit images of children.

He is out on R10,000 bail.

The 37-year-old computer engineer faces charges of the manufacture, possession and distribution of child pornography.

He was arrested in January when police raided his home in Plettenberg Bay after tracking him through his online IP address.

Police reportedly found explicit images of young children on his computer.

The man is one of eight South Africans with alleged connections to the global syndicate.

Other suspects were caught in Fish Hoek, the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng.
