Whatcha Say? SA takes Jason Derulo to task over English comments
The American singer came under fire on social media for comments he made at an ANN7 event last night.
JOHANNESBURG: American singer Jason Derulo is in hot water with South Africans after comments he made at the ANN7 South African of the Year Awards on Saturday night.
Derulo, who was the main act at the event, asked the audience whether they can speak English.
Needless to say, Twitter went crazy, and pretty soon, the 'Wiggle Wiggle' singer was trending.

'It's rough in these twitter streets yall africans don't play'
South Africans, clearly unimpressed, lambasted Derulo, with some calling him ignorant and others launching a personal attack on his music.
Derulo has since responded in a tweet, explaining that his question was only directed at a specific table.
"Speaking English" remark I made, was directed to a specific table. It wasn't literal, just a figure of speech when someone isn't responding— Jason Derulo (@jasonderulo) October 17, 2015
