JOHANNESBURG - Eight points via the boot of Wales flyhalf Dan Biggar sees Wales take a 13-12 lead at halftime in the first Rugby World Cup quarterfinal at Twickenham.

The Springboks found themselves 9-3 up after 17 minutes as Pollard slotted three penalties in the opening quarter of the game.

Biggar converted an early Welsh penalty as well as in the 15th minute.

The flyhalf's big moment in the first half was setting up the only try of the game thus far, as he regathered his own up-and-under just outside the Springbok 22.

Biggar followed up his own well waited kick which the Springbok fullbacks probably should've gathered.

He was the one to pluck it out the air, before making the inside pass to Gareth Davies to score and put Wales in the lead for the first time with the score at 10-9 after 18 minutes.

Pollard then slotted his fourth penalty of the afternoon for a 12-10 in the 21st minute.

The match became a much closer but a bit more of a scrappy contest after that, with both teams conceding several penalties at the breakdown and conceding more turnovers.

Biggar missed one penalty, attempt at goal just before halftime striking the upright, but made up for it soon after by nailing a drop goal with the final kick of the first half.

Luke Charteris is having a stinker in my opinion. Clumsy losing possession and conceding penalties. #RWC #RSAvWAL

When the whole clubhouse cheers just because Cuthbert didn't drop the ball, you know he's not in form #RSAvWAL

Biggar is hilarious 😂😂😂 #RWC2015 #RSA #RSAvWAL

This match is too close for comfort. By the time it's over the nerves will be finished! #RSAvWAL

Lood de Jager has been monstrous for the Boks today, really doing the hard yards and taking a lot of responsibility @CapeTimesSA #RSAvWAL

More turnovers in this game than a round of Great British Bake Off. #RSAvWAL

Let's pray. We need a Try. #RSAvWAL pic.twitter.com/hUfZpvK4Uz
