Golden Lions to hold moment of silence for M1 bridge victims

JOHANNESBURG - The Golden Lions rugby team will observe a minute silence before the start of their match tomorrow as a mark of respect for those who died in the Grayston bridge disaster.

The team is hosting the Free State Cheetahs in the Currie Cup semifinals at Emirates Airline Park.

Two people died and 23 others injured when a scaffolding along pedestrian bridge collapsed this week.

Lions CEO Rudolph Straeuli said, "We care for our people in Joburg. It could have happened to anyone of us, so we will have a moment of silence for families of the deceased. Our thoughts are with them."

The match kicks off at 1:45pm.
