CAPE TOWN - Plans for a MyCiti bus route in Wynberg have come to a screeching halt.

The Western Cape High Court on Monday ruled in favour of a group of residents who faced being evicted.

The court found the 26 families hadn't been adequately consulted over expanding the bus service in the area.

The ruling has stopped the City of Cape Town from evicting the residents and demolishing more homes to make way for the new route.

The South Road Families Association's Clive Muller says they're relieved by the decision.

"The community had no alternative but to bring in this action against the City of Cape Town. In terms of the Constitution,we have to be consulted on these matters."
