Tshabalala's family ‘anxious’ about Sebolai’s appeal
Donald Sebolai was convicted of murdering his girlfriend Dolly Tshabalala in 2014.
Sebolai was convicted of murder and defeating the ends of justice on Monday, but was acquitted of theft in the High Court sitting in Palm Ridge.
Tshabalala was stabbed to death during a heated argument with Sebolai in Soweto last year.
Tshabalala's relative Gloria Khoza says although she and her sister-in-law were close, there were things that she never shared with her.
Khoza says if Tshabalala had only told her about Sebolai's abusive behaviour, she may have been able to prevent her murder.
"I definitely would have given her some advice to walk out or consider other help."
Meanwhile, Sebolai's lawyer Pule Pule says they will appeal the judgment.
"We are now launching another application for bail, pending the sentencing and hopefully appeal."
Tshabalala's mother, who attended court proceedings, says she will now be able to sleep at night, knowing Sebolai is behind bars.
