JOHANNESBURG - Former Jozi FM DJ Donald Sebolai has been found guilty of murdering his girlfriend Dolly Tshabalala in June last year.

In handing down judgment, the judge said Sebolai's version of events was false beyond reasonable doubt.

Tshabalala's relatives broke down in the High Court sitting in the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court, where judgment was delivered in her boyfriend's murder trial.

Judge Cassim Moosa read out the evidence and testimony collected throughout the trial, which is culminating in what's been an emotional year for Tshabalala's family.

The judge said if Sebolai didn't act in self-defence, he would have rushed to hospital and what made it worse is that he would have gone to the police. Instead he fled the scene.

Tshabalala's mother, sitting in the public gallery, broke down and wept while listening to the testimony of the pathologist, who re-iterated that Tshabalaba died as a result of a deep stab wound.

Moosa has also reflected on the violent nature of Tshabalala and Sebolai's relationship, and the accused's response soon after her death, as testified by state witnesses.
