Shrien Dewani: I am the victim of a witch hunt
Dewani has responded in a letter to questions from his late wife’s family on her murder in SA in 2010.
JOHANNESBURG - Shrien Dewani has claimed he is the victim of a 'witch hunt' in a letter to his late wife's family.
The 34-year-old businessman did not attend a hearing at a coroner's court in London on Friday.
Instead, responding to a series of questions put to him by his late wife's family, he wrote back, saying he too would like answers to some of the uncertainties raised in his ill-fated trial in South Africa.
The letter sent to the court is the first we've heard from the businessman's since his statement at the trial opening last year.
Instead of addressing the details of the 37 questions put to him, he called on those who linked him to her murder liars and said that the evidence given against him by the gang associated with her death has led to a witch hunt against him.
In other words he too feels wronged, and wants answers too.
The decision to not hold an inquest into Anni's death closes one avenue for more evidence gathering, but her family says other options still exist.
