Maqubela continues her fight for stake in late husband's estate
Maqubela’s lawyer says they are challenging an order barring her from claiming a share of the inheritance.
CAPE TOWN - Convicted killer Thandi Maqubela is continuing to fight for a stake in her husband's estate.
Maqubela was convicted in 2013 of killing her husband, acting Judge Patrick Maqubela in Bantry Bay in 2009.
She's been sentenced to an effective 18 years in prison for murder, forging his will and fraudulently presenting it to the Master of the high court in Johannesburg.
Her lawyer Jolinda Slager says they are challenging an order barring her from claiming a share of the inheritance.
"The murder matter is on appeal and if she's successful in her appeal then stands to inherit anyway. She is entitled to half of her share of the community of property."
In August, Maqubela was granted leave to appeal her conviction.
