JOHANNESBURG - The Unite Against Corruption convenor Zwelinzima Vavi has reportedly been arrested for speeding in Ekurhuleni at the weekend.

Independent Online is reporting that Vavi was caught driving at 207km per hour on the R24 freeway near Edenvale on Sunday morning.

He was reportedly released on bail.

The Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) has confirmed that six people were arrested in that area this weekend, but would not say if Vavi was among them.

EMPD spokesman Kobeli Mokheseng said, "We had six traffic offenders but whether Zwelinzima Vavi was involved, I can't comment on that because we handed them over to SAPS."

Vavi has not been available for comment.
