Heat wave headed Gauteng's way

One forecaster says Gauteng residents can expect temperatures to rise to highs of 34 degrees.

JOHANNESBURG - The South African Weather Service has issued a heat wave warning for parts of Gauteng and other areas in the country.

It says persistent high temperatures are expected to hit the province, parts of Mpumalanga and the North West from tomorrow until the end of next week.

It has also warned of possible veld fires.

Forecaster Puseletso Mofokeng says Gauteng residents can expect temperatures to rise to highs of 34 degrees and above.

"In Gauteng... Temperatures in Vereeniging are going to exceed 33, and we're looking at around 32 degrees in Johannesburg. In Pretoria, you can expect around 34 degrees, if not more."
