JOHANNESBURG - The Tourism Business Council of South Africa says it's still waiting to meet with Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba to discuss the impact of the controversial visa regulations.

The council is adamant the introduction of unabridged birth certificates for children and biometric visas has had a negative impact on business.

It has urged Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa to suspend the new rules.

The council's David Frost says they've had no communication with government since the regulations came into effect.

"We have written to the deputy president, we've tried to engage and we've been given no opportunity to sit down and have any discussion."
