24th annual whale festival kicks off in Hermanus

The whale festival begins today with up to 100,000 visitors expected over this weekend.

CAPE TOWN - The annual whale festival kicks off in Hermanus today.

The event now in its 24th year runs until Sunday.

The festival's CEO Leon Theron says they're expecting up to 100,000 visitors.

"The whales are the stars of the show. Everybody is excited for the whales."

He said there'll be plenty of entertainment for children and educational programmes taking place at the Eco Marine Village.
