JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng police say they've arrested a Boksburg car salesman in the latest breakthrough in the ongoing investigation into child pornography.

This brings to eight the number of suspects detained under the so-called ' cloud nine' operation, which has seen arrests in Gauteng and the Western Cape.

Police spokesperson Vish Naidoo says the latest arrest was the result of international cooperation.

"The team received information from our Unites States counterparts that pornographic material was being distributed in the US. They followed up on this information, which led them to this man at his business premises in Boksburg and thereafter, his house."

He says child pornography was found on a computer at the suspect's home.

"This four-year-old child is the child of his girlfriend. Of course he was subsequently arrested and then more IT equipment was seized. He is currently in police custody and we expect to bring him before court [on Friday]."

Naidoo says that since the beginning of this year, their special unit has arrested nearly 50 suspects in various child pornography investigations.
