‘Celebrity’ caught with drugs at OR Tambo to remain in custody
It's been reported the woman arrested is a well-known television celebrity, but police have denied this.
JOHANNESBURG - A South African woman caught allegedly in possession of over R4 million worth of drugs at OR Tambo International Airport has been remanded in custody after making her first appearance in the Kempton Park Magistrates Court.
The 29-year-old was arrested yesterday after she was found with crystal meth weighing nearly 16 kilograms.
It was reported that the woman was a well-known television celebrity but the police denied this.
Ottilia Mmatjatji Malatji made a brief appearance in court today where her case was postponed to 7 October.
Social media was abuzz yesterday after the South African Revenue Service claimed Malatji was a well-known actress.
It's understood she was smuggling drugs worth an estimated R4.6 million into South African from Abu Dhabi.
She will remain behind bars until her bail hearing next Wednesday.
