JOHANNESBURG - The City of Johannesburg says the EcoMobility festival in October is more than just about closing some roads in Sandto but it will also give commuters the experience of what future transport could be like.

For the month of October some lanes will be closed in the Sandton CBD, while extra lanes have been created for public transport.

The festival aims to reduce congestion and encourage motorists to use buses, cycle lanes and walk ways.

Joburg's transport head Lisa Seftel says, "The one component is about changing the way in which we use the road space, both in Sandton and coming towards Sandton, to be able to give people an opportunity to envisage and experience what a more public transport, walking, cycling future would be like."
