CAPE TOWN - A suspected serial rapist in Bellville will remain in custody until his next court appearance in November.

The 28-year-old Siyamcela Ntombeni appeared in the Bellville Magistrate Court on Monday.

The Gugulethu resident has been charged with the rape of three women, but is being investigated for at least nine other rape cases.

Ntombeni made a brief appearance in the court where the case was remanded to 2 November.

Its alleged Ntombeni lured victims on Voortrekker Road by offering them jobs.

Investigators claim he would then drag them to nearby bushes, where he would rape and rob them.

Ntombeni was formally charged with three counts of rape and three counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances.

But investigators believe he's a serial rapist behind as many as 12 cases reported along Voortrekker Road.
