2 dead, 3 wounded in Cape weekend shootings

CAPE TOWN - At least two people have been killed and three injured in various shootings in Cape Town in under 36 hours.

Residents in Mitchells Plain, Manenberg and Bonteheuwel believe the incidents are gang-related, but authorities could not confirm this.

In one incident, Western Cape police were called to a hospital where two people had been admitted with gunshot wounds in Eastridge.

The circumstances behind their injuries remain unclear.

The police's Noloyiso Rwexana says the latest incident in Rocklands occurred on Saturday.

"A case of murder is being investigated. Our information indicates a 38-year-old man was shot. The circumstances around this matter is being investigated. No one has been arrested at this stage."

Police are also investigating the murder of a man who was shot in Manenberg on Saturday and are yet to make arrests in any of these incidents.
