JOHANNESBURG - The City of Joburg says it's in the process of completing construction work in Sandton ahead of EcoMobility month, which kicks off on 1 October.

Some lanes will be closed in the Sandton CBD, while extra lanes have been created for public transport.

The EcoMobility Festival aims to reduce congestion and encourage motorists to use buses, cycle lanes and walk ways for the month.

Johannesburg's transport head Lisa Seftel says, "Sandton is a hive of activity. The public transport lane has already been demarcated and we are very busy finalising the walkway along West Street. We are confident that we will be able to complete in time."
