Alleged serial rapist to appear in Bellville court

CAPE TOWN - A suspected rapist allegedly responsible for attacks on 12 women in the Bellville area is expected in court today.

The 31-year-old from Gugulethu who has been dubbed as the 'Bellville serial rapist' was arrested at his home by detectives from Bellville last week.

It's believed the man lured several women on Voortrekker Road under the guise of giving them jobs, dragged them to some bushes and raped them before robbing them of their belongings.

The police's Noloyiso Rwexana said, "He's expected to appear in the Bellville Magistrates Court facing 12 charges of rape."

Meanwhile, Western Cape police believe the man may be connected to more crimes in other areas.
