JOHANNESBURG - Zimbabwean professional hunter Theo Bronkhorst, who facilitated the hunt of much-loved Cecil the Lion for a wealthy American dentist, has had charges against him for smuggling sable to South Africa dropped.

But his lawyer says another charge against Bronkhorst has now been brought.

This is the first mention of yet another charge against the professional hunter who attracted global outrage over his role in Cecil the lion's death.

The latest charge stems from the discovery of a stash of animal trophies at Bronkhorst's house in Bulawayo on Tuesday.

Prosecutors have withdrawn, before a plea, a charge of attempted smuggling of sable after 29 animals were found in trucks stuck near Beitbridge at the weekend.

Bronkhorst is denying that he owned the sable.

According to his lawyer, the hunter is due back in court later this month in relation to his role in the killing of Cecil the Lion.
