Probe into the Denver shack fire underway

JOHANNESBURG - An investigation is underwayinto the cause of a fire that has displaced over 100 people in Denver.

At least 50 shacks were destroyed on Wednesday when the blaze ripped through the informal settlement near the George Gogh railway station.

Its understood the fire broke out in one of the shacks and spread rapidly.

Johannesburg emergency services Robert Mulaudzi said, The cause of the fire at this stage is still unknown. Our fire investigating team will be investigating it. Weve also dedicated our disaster management site to facilitate the release process for affected family members.
