JOHANNESBURG - Murder accused Sindisiwe Manqele has told the High Court sitting in the Randburg Magistrates Court that she intended to stab her rapper boyfriend.

She is accused of murdering Nkululeko 'Flabba' Habedi at his home in Alexandra in March.

But Manqele says she never wanted to kill him, and was only acting in self defence when he became violent.

Judge Solly Sithole asked the accused what her intention was when she wrestled with her boyfriend, Habedi, to pry the knife out of his hands.

She told Sithole that she was trying to stop Flabba from stabbing her and she wanted to run from the room.

The judge proceeded to ask her whether she intentionally wanted to stab her boyfriend and if that was why she was determined to get a hold of the knife.

Manqele replied by saying 'exactly'.

#FlabbaTrial Manqele: I grabbed his right hand with both my hands and I tried to open his hand to get the knife and I succeeded. TK

There were gasps and whispers in the public gallery to her response.

Earlier today, State Prosecutor Paul Schutter told Manqele that she is lying about what sparked the argument between her and her Habedi.

Schutter has also accused her of trying to portray the deceased as the villain to suit her story.

The State says it will prove that the 26-year-old was in fact the jealous party in the relationship, and she was the one pursuing him.

The accused declined to comment when asked if she was ever jealous of Habedi's female friends.
