JOHANNESBURG - An emotional Sindisiwe Manqele has told the High Court sitting in Randburg that she was devastated after stabbing her rapper boyfriend and attempted suicide shortly after he died.

Manqele is on trial for allegedly murdering Nkululeko "Flabba" Habedi at his home in Alexandra in March this year.

But she claims he became aggressive and started manhandling her and she was merely protecting herself.

She has broken down twice in court today as she recounted her version of the events that led to her boyfriend's death.

She says she pushed and stabbed Habedi while she was trying to get away from him.

Manqele alleges that he pushed her against his bed, threatened her with the knife and accused her of having an affair.

She says Flabba stabbed her in the abdomen and she was treated for this at a local clinic that Monday morning.

She says she broke a bottle which was on the bedroom floor and used it to slit her wrist because she was devastated and shocked, and could not manage life without her boyfriend.
