Suspect from R1.1m abalone bust to appear in court

CAPE TOWN - A 31-year-old man is expected to appear in the Strand Magistrates Court today after he was arrested with abalone worth R1.1 million.
Police were patrolling Sir Lowry's Pass on Tuesday when they spotted a vehicle swerving on the road.
The man was arrested when officials found the abalone hidden in the vehicle.
The police's Noloyiso Rwexana says, "They followed the vehicle and it was pulled over in Gordon's Bay. 6,824 units of abalone were found packed in bags with an estimated value of R1.1 million."
