Parents of Laerskool Randfontein bullies to also undergo counselling

A video has emerged showing about 20 boys taking turns kicking and punching a 13-year-old learner.

JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng Education Department says the parents of a group of boys who were seen on a video assaulting a pupil at the Laerskool Randfontein will also go through counselling with them.

One of the boys has been suspended with immediate effect.

In the video, about 20 boys are seen taking turns kicking and punching a 13-year-old learner.

The beating took place on the school's rugby field last week.

The department's Phumla Sekhonyane says, "Our psychologists have also been deployed to the school to give counselling, because remember, while we want these learners to take responsibility for their action, we also want to correct their behaviour."
