CAPE TOWN - The father of a missing Khayelitsha boy says he's hopeful his son will be found.

Five-year-old Nido Mvango went missing two Saturdays ago while playing with children from his neighbourhood in Harare.

Police have been searching with the help of the Pink Ladies Organisation for missing children.

Nido's emotional father, Tina Mvango, spoke to Eyewitness News and relived the day when his only son went missing.

"It was the morning and I said to my sister… watch Nido so that they can give him food to eat. When I [came] back around 1pm or 2pm they said they don't see Nido."

Mvango says he closely guarded his son, especially since his mother died just six months ago.

"I liked to guide him; I don't like him to play far from me."

Police have asked anyone with information to report to any of the three Khayelitsha police stations.
