JOHANNESBURG - Slain rapper Nkululeko 'Flabba' Habedi' s estranged wife and his murder accused girlfriend are both expected to take the stand in the high court sitting in Randburg this week.

Sindisiwe Manqele is expected to explain why she stabbed and killed the rapper at his home in Alexandra six months ago.

She has pleaded not guilty, saying she was defending herself against a violent Habedi.

The state has so far called nine witnesses to the stand and is expected to bring three more, including an investigating officer and his estranged wife Mpho.

The mother of the rapper's two young children is expected to tell the court how gentle he was and how he was never abusive towards her.

Last week, defence attorney Norman Makhubele told the court that Manqele agrees that Flabba was not abusive, but acted out of character on the date in question.

Manqele is expected to tell the court how she made frantic calls to people close to her asking them to fetch her from a night club, where the two had been partying, and later from his home in Alexandra.

Her defence team is expected to present the court with phone records to prove this.
