Fatal Durban N2 crash leaves 3 dead, injures 8

JOHANNESBURG - Three people have been killed and eight others critically injured after a multiple vehicle pile-up on the N2 in Durban.

Two trucks were involved in the accident on Queen Nandi Drive.

Two people died on the scene and one of the critically injured drivers from one of the trucks died in hospital.

Netcare 911's Chris Botha says seven people are in a critical condition in hospital.

"Seven people are critically injured and one person miraculously escaped from this wreckage with minor injuries. The people were treated on scene then taken to hospital."

Earlier in Cape Town, four people died and two others were injured following a crash on the N7 highway.

Part of the road outside of Moorreesburg was closed to traffic while officials clear the scene.

Provincial Traffic Chief Kenny Africa said, "In total, four people died in this gruesome accident."
