CAPE TOWN - Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu says he has been deeply touched by a prayer service held in Cape Town after he was discharged from hospital.

The 83-year-old anti-apartheid icon was hospitalised for a persistent infection.

He was discharged last week.

His doctors maintain the illness is unrelated to prostate cancer he has been battling for more than a decade.

Those who gathered to pray for him this weekend have wished him good health.

Tutu says he is grateful for the prayers.

"I'm so very touched that they convened this prayer meeting. Whether there are 10 people or 100,000 is not important."
