Foiled tobacco heist: Arrested gang to appear in court
The men aged between 18 and 35 years were arrested on Sunday morning in City Deep.
JOHANNESBURG - The 16 people who were arrested during a business robbery in Johannesburg are expected to appear in court this week.
The gang was arrested on Sunday by the Johannesburg Flying Squad while allegedly trying to steal tobacco worth R14 million at a shipping company.
The suspects are aged between 18 and 35 years.
The police's Katlego Mogale says, "They were arrested and police team recovered all the cargo. A case of business breaking in has been opened; they will appear in court within 48 hours."
It's understood the suspects entered the premises in two trucks and told a security guard they were there to pick-up a consignment.
