Cops recover tobacco worth R14m after foiled robbery
Sixteen suspects were arrested earlier today following a foiled robbery at a shipping company in City Deep.
JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng police have recovered R14 million worth of tobacco after a foiled robbery at a shipping company in City Deep.
Sixteen suspects have been arrested after they arrived at the premises in two trucks this morning, posing as people who were there to collect a consignment.
Nine bags of dagga were also found in one of the trucks they used.
The police's Katlego Mogale says, "This morning at about 8:30, 16 suspects arrived in two trucks. They loaded a shipment of tobacco onto the trucks. The police were alerted to the situation and all 16 were arrested. Police managed to recover all the cargo."
