JOHANNESBURG - City Power says two of its distributors have tripped causing power outages to Hyde Park, Dunkeld, Glen Vista and Mulbarton.

The power operator says technicians are working around the clock to fix the faults and power should be restored within the next two to three hours.

City Powers Louis Pieterse said, "At the moment we have two distributors that have dropped and our operators are attending to it."

In July, City Power said its smart meter load limiting programme had shown many people simply didn't know how much power they were using at one time during peak periods.

The load limiting programme started earlier that month.

It sees meters flicking the power on and off for five minutes as a warning that if people don't want to be switched off completely they must switch off some appliances.
