Nine arrested for govt order scam syndicate

JOHANNESBURG - Nine people have been arrested for operating a government order scam syndicate.
It's understood the group had access to state registered supplier databases and would contact suppliers with urgent orders.
They would then send the order forms to unsuspecting victims.
Police cornered the suspects in Sandton on Tuesday evening following an operation between the South African Police Service (Saps) and the Hawks.
The men have been linked to more than 100 illegal transactions in Gauteng.
The Hawks' Hangwani Mulaudzi says the men have been remanded in custody after appearing in court today.
"There are a lot of people who have fallen prey to this scam and we are happy that we have made a major breakthrough in this case."
