Dirco to confirm nationality of woman busted with narcotics in India
The 32-year-old was carrying 40 packets of what is suspected to be cocaine.
JOHANNESBURG - The International Relations Department says it's verifying the identity of a woman who was arrested India with narcotics.
The 32-year-old, who is believed to be South African, was carrying about 40 packets of what is suspected to be cocaine, in her abdomen and other parts of her body.
She told officials at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport that she was seven months pregnant.
International Relations' Nelson Kgwete says, "The South African High Commission in New Delhi, in India, is following up reports relating to the arrest of a woman who was detained whilst travelling on a South African passport, on allegations of drug trafficking. The woman's identity will be verified."
