Furniture is piling up on the side of the road as a constant stream of crowbar wielding Red Ants clear out Wellington House in Hillbrow.
A security official says the building was a rundown criminal hotspot, and tenants had not paid rent for months.
The building will now be refurbished and made available for renting in a few months.
Some residents here have criticised the Red Ants saying they're heavy handed and that some of their valuables and cash have been stolen.
Can Security director George Moraitis says the building was infamous in Hillbrow.
"The building is known as Wellington Court. It is one of the major criminal elements, basically this is where they get harboured, and it's been coming on for a few years now for the eviction to happen. Today it finally happened with the help of The Red Ants and the [South African Police Services] Saps."
