CAPE TOWN - Desmond Tutu's daughter says doctors and the Arch's family are pleased with his progress.

Her statement follows a hospital visit by the King of Lesotho, who was at Tutu's bedside this morning.

The 83-year-old Nobel Peace Prize laureate was re-admitted to hospital two weeks ago for a course of intravenous antibiotics.

His daughter is hopeful he may be discharged later this week.

King Letsie III is one of many world leaders, past and present, who have wished the Arch well. Among them are former US president Jimmy Carter and business mogul Richard Branson.

Former President Thabo Mbeki also paid Tutu a visit earlier this month.

Tutu has been in and out of hospital several times this year with a persistent infection.
