Huge abalone bust in Ashton

Three people were arrested after they were found in possession of abalone valued at R750,000.

CAPE TOWN - Three people have been arrested after they were found in possession of abalone valued at more than half a million rand in Ashton.

Police made the bust earlier this week following a tip-off from community members.

The police's Noloyiso Rwexana says equipment used to dry out perlemoen was also seized.

"It's valued at R750,000. Three suspects were arrested and will appear in court today facing charges of the possession of abalone."
