JOHANNESBURG - The Institute for Security Studies (ISS) has commended the work of South African Revenue Services (Sars) customs officials after another drugs bust at OR Tambo International Airport.

On Monday night, nearly R38 million of liquid methamphetamine was confiscated at the airport.

The drugs were hidden in containers in unclaimed luggage.

No arrests have been made.

ISS researcher Khalil Goga says it appears this is the work of a well-organised network of people.

"I think the interesting thing about the syndicate is that they made up by a host of people. You get your Krejcirs, you get your big drug dealers that hide in the shadows but you also have a lot of small players. You get different kinds of syndicate, so it's made up by a host of role players."
