CAPE TOWN - Royal Eagles coach Vladislav Heric says motivating Katlego Mphela will be something he is going to focuses on.

The former Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs striker joined the NFD side on Tuesday, much to the surprise of the local football fraternity.

He is joined by ex-Orlando Pirates player Khethokwakhe Masuku at the KZN team.

Speaking to EWN Sport Heric says Mphela is not used to playing in the lower division.

"It will be very difficult to motivate him to play in the First Division I believe. He didn't play in First Division for a long time so that is what is going to be my main focus because you know when you come from the PSL to NFD (National First Division) that's something else with the different type of football that is played."

Heric adds it will be interesting to see how both players adapt to first division football.

"The football is much quicker, the opponents are different with less technique but more physical abilities. It will be very exciting for me to see how those two guys respond in the lower division."

Killer Mphela only managed 15 appearances for Chiefs and scored a mere three goals.

Before joining the Amakhosi, Mphela made 116 appearances for Mamelodi Sundowns, scoring 48 goals in total, his successful stint.

He suffered series of injuries which saw him occupy the grand stand under Stuart Baxter, who by the way, was sacked by the Turkish club after two league games in charge.
