JOHANNESBURG - In a fresh case of police brutality, Douglasdale police have been filmed choking a man until he passed out while his friend begged them not to hurt him.

The incident occurred in Fourways last week and follows a recent expose on so-called cop-rage, particularly in the Edenvale area.

While police have confirmed a criminal case has been opened, the video has clocked up nearly 100,000 views on YouTube in the past 24 hours.

A man who's identified himself only as Shane says he and his friend Anton were preparing to go home late on Friday when they were approached by the two Douglasdale police officers.

Shane says while one officer pointed a gun at his head, the other grabbed Anton and started choking him.

After Anton passed out, Shane says the officer searched his limp body.

"They actually waited for Anton to wake up. I picked Anton up, put him in the boot and they said, 'please don't ever do that again' and they left."

Gauteng police say the matter is being investigated.
