Treasury mum on damning document
The document claims National Treasury is being manipulated by a group of people.
JOHANNESBURG - The National Treasury says it's not going to respond in public to claims made in an unsourced document that it's been manipulated by people working for the former apartheid government.
The _Business Day _newspaper published the document on Friday.
It also quotes Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene as saying he is worried the finance ministry could be the next state institution to be undermined.
The document claims people like Trevor Manuel were working for the secret project to control the personal and outcomes of institutions like the Reserve Bank and to influence economic policy.
It also says most members of the project are not aware that they are actually a part of it.
But some of the language in the document appears similar to that in what claimed to be a 'Browse Mole' report which surfaced during the run-up to the ANC's Polokwane conference.
Another report also claims that Public Protector Advocate Thuli Madonsela and several political leaders were working for the CIA.
