Open Stellenbosch releases racism documentary

Open Stellenbosch says they wanted to show the extent of racism and exclusivity at Stellenbosch University.

CAPE TOWN - The student group Open Stellenbosch has again caused a stir at the university this time with the release of a documentary.

The 30-minute documentary titled _Luister _presents experiences of more than 30 students and a lecturer at the university.

Since its release on YouTube two days ago, it has already had close to 20,000 views.

Open Stellenbosch's Simone Cupido says the group wanted to show the public the extent of racism and exclusivity at Stellenbosch University.

"For the past three months we've been acting in action against the university to appeal to these issues. We saw the need to draw broader attention that's why we decided to put 'Luister' together."

In the video 32 students and a lecturer at the institution share their experiences.

The video has garnered much attention on social media and has gathered momentum with close to 20,000 views.

On the day of its release the hashtag _Luister _was trending on Twitter.
