NPA won't continue with prosecution of Jiba
Jiba was expected to go on trial tomorrow, on charges of fraud & perjury.
JOHANNESBURG - The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) boss, Shaun Abrahams, has announced a decision has been reached to no longer prosecute his deputy Nomgcobo Jiba.
Abrahams made the announcement in Pretoria this afternoon where he addressed several other high profile matters.
Jiba was expected to go on trial tomorrow, on charges of fraud and perjury.
Abrahams dismissed reports that he himself decided not to prosecute Jiba, but said he sought the legal opinion of the head of the Specialised Commercial Crime Unit.
He quoted specific legislation that precludes Jiba from prosecution.
The charges will be formally withdrawn tomorrow.
