16 people were killed and nearly 40 injured in two fatal accidents on the same highway yesterday.
JOHANNESBURG - Authorities are investigating two major accidents in KwaZulu-Natal in which 16 people were killed and nearly 40 others were injured.
At least 14 people were killed when a taxi collided with a train on Monday night.
Earlier, on the same highway, another taxi crashed into a bakkie, killing two people and injuring 32 others.
Netcare 911's Chris Botha said, "Paramedics were called out to the N2 north-bound, where a taxi actually slammed into the back of a stationary bakkie that was parked in the breakdown lane. When we arrived there, there was a total of 32 people that were injured."
