Oldest US army veteran dies at age 110

Emma Didlake's health had been slowly deteriorating over the years.

JOHANNESBURG - Emma Didlake, the oldest United States (US) military veteran, passed away on Sunday.

Didlake joined the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps in 1943 and aided America as a private and driver in the Second World War.

Didlake's health was reportedly deteriorating over some time.

She has been hailed by President Barack Obama, as a 'trailblazer' for generations of American's who will serve on the army.

The veteran was invited to the White House last month, where she met with President Obama.
